My name is Jennifer, welcome to my house.
Great food has always been associated with family for me. My Nana’s big farmhouse was always filled with laughter and libations as we shucked corn on the porch and yanked carrots from the earth. The livestock we hand fed in the barn made their appearance at the family table as prized centerpieces. Mountains of steamed blue crabs, Pabst Blue Ribbon, corn on the cob and fresh tomatoes seemed endless in the summers growing up. My love for food and what it means to share a meal is a vein that runs deep.
For over 20 years I have found myself in some way or another working with and around food. I’ve taken on every industry position that’s come my way, from bread girl to server, barista to small batch coffee roaster, line cook to bartender, edible garden designer to herbalist. I’ve even had the unique opportunity to cook on board a 4 masted sailboat out to sea for 2 months while serving as crew. Each position was always a natural fit as well as an experience to learn from and build on.
With another unexpected opportunity a few years back, I found myself in the catering business working for an established taco shop in San Diego County. After decades of building my eclectic kitchen toolbox, this was the final piece that pulled it all together and The JENNHOUSE was born.
